According to local reports, the plane, a Fairchild Metro 23 carrying 18 passengers, took off from Trinidad and was heading to Riberalta. The crash happened at around 4 p.m. local time, while the plane was about to land. According to Reuters, heavy rain was falling when the small plane tried to land in Riberalta. La Razón reported that the plane crashed and exploded at the side of the airport landing lane. Low visibility and bad weather conditions are believed to have caused the crash. Several people intervened at the scene to help the victims of the accident. \"(There were) 16 passengers and the pilot and co-pilot, of whom 10 survived and eight died,\" Jose Luis Pereira, director of the Riberalta hospital, told Reuters. \"The pilot and the co-pilot are in the gravest situation... Seven (bodies) are (so) charred, we can\'t identify them.\" As reported by ex-governor Ernesto Suárez on his Twitter account, three government employees in Beni lost their life in the accident. Jaime Claros, director of the Riberalta hospital, told La Razón that the injured showed first, second and third degree burns. According to reports, President Evo Morales said he has ordered a deep investigation on the crash and drastic sanctions on the company....
