Warriors Have 'Long-Term Vision' For D'Angelo Russell

The Golden State Warriors have a "long-term vision" for developing D'Angelo Russell next to Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

There were reports that Warriors would eventually trade Russell after signing him to a 4-year, $117 million contract.

"If D'Angelo Russell believed he was gonna leave after a year with the Warriors, he would have never decided to sign that maximum contract with the Warriors," said Charania in an appearance on NBA TV, adding that Curry and Thompson can work without the ball while Russell distributes.

Charania also mentioned that the Warriors wanted a "splashy" signing after losing Kevin Durant and with the opening of their new area in San Francisco next season.
