Zach Galifianakis Explains How He Got President Obama on 'Between Two Ferns'
How do you get a sitting president of the United States onto your little web show? By being "an idiot," apparently.
Actor Zach Galifianakis explained how he was able to nab an exclusive chat with President Obama in 2014 for his parody interview show 'Between Two Ferns', in a recent "Actually Me" video from GQ.
He said that it began with a meeting with Valerie Jarrett, who was Obama’s senior advisor at the time.
"I told her the reason. If I’m an idiot, it kind of makes everything else look better," he said.
So basically, Galifianakis’ pitch to Obama’s representative was that he was going to be so bad, the president couldn’t help but look good in comparison. The comedian later added that, even with their biggest guests, he refuses to compromise on the content.
"If people are not going to let us do what we want to do, then we’re not going to do it," he said. "I’m not going to change the show because someone doesn’t want to do that."
