Keon Coleman Reportedly Tried To Undermine Florida State By Telling Recruits To Play Anywhere Else
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman made a name for himself in the college ranks with the Florida State Seminoles in 2023.
Coleman, who transferred to FSU from Michigan State, caught 50 passes for 658 yards and 11 touchdowns en route to being named first-team All-ACC.
But it appears that not everything was sunshine and roses for Coleman in Tallahassee, as a new report states that he negatively recruited against the Noles when speaking to potential incoming recruits.
Keon Coleman Negatively Recruited Florida State Due To WR Coach Ron Dugans
Zach Blostein of Noles247 made the revelation (49:00 mark) during a recent discussion about Florida State’s ongoing struggles both on and off the field.
“That was something that Florida State was trying to combat back in January and February with some high-profile receivers they were after,” Blostein said.
Specifically, Coleman allegedly told recruits not to come and play for Florida State wide receivers coach Ron Dugans.
Noles247 recruiting analyst stated that Coleman’s negative recruitment was “more of an indictment of your wide receiver development and coach. Frankly, that’s something that you had to combat back in January and you’re at a point again where you’re going to have to start combatting drop rate and the development of someone like a Hykeem Williams who hasn’t really shown a lot of progress this season as a five-star recruit.”
Surprisingly, Florida State fans did not all blame Coleman for doing so.
“I’m shocked that Norvell has kept Dugans even though Keon Coleman told other recruits to not play for him,” one fan wrote.
The college football landscape is constantly changing. And there is perhaps no better example of that than Florida State. One year ago, the Noles were on top of the world and undefeated.
Now, it appears that they’re in disarray, and the sharks are circling now that they smell blood in the water.
