Detroit Lions Accused Of Dirty Play For Twisting Packers QB Jordan Love’s Already Injured Ankle
The Detroit Lions went into Lambeau Field on a rainy afternoon in Wisconsin and dominated the Green Bay Packers from start to finish. Unfortunately, they are being accused of dirty play after a low tackle on Jordan Love during the first half.
It is hard to ignore the optics of the incident in question.
Love was visibly uncomfortable throughout the entire game on Sunday because of a groin injury, which had nothing to do with his ankle. However, the 26-year-old quarterback suffered an injury to his lower leg way back in Week 1. There was initial concern that it could be a torn ACL, but it was ultimately determined to be a high ankle sprain.
Two things we need to be concerned with Jordan love based on the mechanism

He landed awkwardly on that same ankle against the Jaguars at the end of October.

Fast forward to this past weekend.
James Houston tackled Love in the backfield after he had already released the ball. The Lions linebacker grabbed the Packers signal-caller by his foot and yanked him down to the ground.
That in itself was not a big deal. Houston could’ve let go of Love because the ball was already out of his hand, but he was just trying to make a football play and didn’t have a sense of his surroundings.
With that being said, it seemed as though Houston held on to Love’s foot much longer than necessary. Depending on how you view the play, there might even be a slight twist.

Jordan Love was able to stay in the game even though it looked uncomfortable. James Houston was not penalized.
Interestingly enough, Matthew Stafford previously accused the Detroit Lions of being “dirty” last season.

This is not the first time these allegations have been cast upon the best team in the NFC. Questionable tackles like the one on Sunday might not be intentional but it doesn’t help to reject those claims.
