Kenyon Martin Claims Caitlin Clark Wouldn’t Score A Single Point If She Accepted $5 Million Big3 Offer

It’s hard to imagine Caitlin Clark will take Ice Cube up on his $5 million offer to take her talents to the Big3, but Kenyon Martin seems to think she’d be held scoreless if she did decide to go down that particular path.

It’s a foregone conclusion the Indiana Fever will be taking Caitlin Clark with the first overall pick in the upcoming WNBA Draft after she closes out her final season with the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Some people have tried to argue the superstar will be taking a pay cut based on the fact that her WNBA paycheck (which will max out at around $76,000 during her rookie season) will be worth significantly less than the NIL deals she was able to take advantage of in college, but based on the number of sponsorships she’s already lined up, it’s safe to assume the guard who’s slated to become the face of the league will be just fine.

This week, we learned she’d received a significantly more lucrative opportunity from the Big3, the three-on-three league that was co-founded by Ice Cube in 2017, which offered Clark a cool $5 million for a campaign that consists of just eight regular season games.

There’s nothing that suggests she would seriously consider that option, but that didn’t stop Kenyon Martin from discussing the proposal during a conversation with Gilbert Arenas where he strongly asserted Clark wouldn’t be able to score a single point in the Big3 if she decided to go that route.

Here’s what he had to say:

“It’s a step under prison ball…Can you imagine her getting stuck down on Reggie Evans?

It’s three-on-three. She can’t hide nowhere. She would not score one point.”

The crux of Martin’s argument is that Big3 emphasizes a physical approach to the game to the point where NBA players have trouble adjusting to the style, so it’s not a stretch to suggest a women’s basketball player who stands at 6’0″ and weighs in at 154 pounds would be facing an uphill battle.

With that said, it’s also kind of absurd to suggest Clark wouldn’t be able to figure out a way to score a single point.
