Oft Disrobed Model Emily Ratajkowski Says She ‘Quit Acting’ Because She ‘Felt Like A Piece of Meat’

Back when Emily Ratajkowski first blew up in the 2010s, I remember thinking I was witnessing the next evolution of women. Even though I was already in college and romantically active, seeing her bop around in Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines video felt like seeing a dog walk on its hind legs for the first time — as if natural selection was unfolding right before my eyes.
Obviously, both Ratajkowski and Hollywood knew that, too, as the pair pursued an ultimately unfruitful partnership together, with the now 31-year-old model unsuccessfully appearing in films such as Entourage (the movie), We Are Your Friends (alongside Zac Efron), the Netflix anthology series Easy, and Gone Girl (in a role that Ben Affleck apparently hand-picked her for).
During a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Ratajkowski now says that she ultimately decided to quit acting — she last appeared in a film in 2019 — because she “felt like a piece of meat that people were judging.”
“I didn’t feel like, ‘Oh, I’m an artist performing and this is my outlet,’” Ratajkowski told the LA Times.
“I felt like a piece of meat who people were judging, saying, ‘Does she have anything else other than her [b******]?’”
Despite not quite cutting it as an actress, Ratajkowski has built a wildly successful career all the same as she’s not only one of the most famous models in the world but she also recently launched her instantly-massive podcast, HighLow with EmRata.
If you do find yourself in the mood to revist Em Rata’s acting days, Gone Girl — which will likely go down as the most notable film she’ll ever appear in given that it’s directed by David Fincher and stars Ben Affleck — is currently streaming on HBO Max (at the time of this writing).
