Kenny Pickett’s Tiny Hands Raise Concerns (Again) After Botched Snap During Training Camp

Kenny Pickett’s hands are small. We know this.
As the NFL Draft began with the Senior Bowl back in February, the Pittsburgh Panthers quarterback refused to have his hands measured. And then, when he did get them measured at the NFL Combine in March, they came in significantly below average.
After measuring-in well under the league norm, which doesn’t bode well for him historically, Pickett did some hand-stretching and lengthening exercises that helped them remeasure at a larger size during his Pro Day. He also wears two gloves at all times to help him get a better grip on the ball.
Despite the hand size concerns, the Steelers drafted Pickett with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. They said that any issues with the size of his hands are thrown out of the window when you watch him play.
Well, over the weekend, SportsCenter aired a clip of Pickett “playing” at Pittsburgh camp and it does not dispel any concerns. In clip, which only aired momentarily, the rookie quarterback can be seen fumbling a snap. That is something that could be an issue because of his small hands.

There is some preface that needs to come with the clip. The fumbled snap could be the fault of the center. It could also be a matter of timing. It could also be a fluke.
However, the small hand narrative was not helped by the video. In addition, the B-Roll clip aired during a segment in which Jeremy Fowler spoke on the current situation within Pittsburgh’s quarterback room. Trubisky opened OTAs taking the first team reps, followed by Mason Rudolph.
Perhaps because Pickett’s small hands are causing problems? Did you know he has small hands?
