24-year-old Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins has been killed in a car accident in Florida, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“Dwayne Haskins, a standout at Ohio State before becoming Washington’s first-round pick and playing in Pittsburgh, died this morning when he got hit by a car in South Florida, per his agent Cedric Saunders. Haskins would have turned 25 years old on May 3,” Schefter tweeted on Saturday morning.

After one season as Ohio State University’s starting quarterback — he threw 50 touchdowns that year — Haskins was drafted by the Washington Football Team in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Haskins spent two seasons in Washington, starting 13 games. He then went to Pittsburgh to be a backup quarterback to Ben Roethlisberger in his final season.
During his NFL career, Haskins completed 60.1% of his passes for 2,804 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. He also rushed for an additional 147 yards and one touchdown.
