Family Who Lives Next To Augusta National Refuses To Sell Their 1,900-Square-Foot Home For Millions

Augusta National has snatched up hundreds of properties that surround the golf course over the years, but it can’t seem to get its hands on one home that sits adjacent to one of the entrance gates.
Back in 1999, Augusta National began buying homes and other properties that stretched 270 acres around the borders of the private club. According to The Wall Street Journal, the club has spent over $200 million.
Augusta National essentially bought an entire neighborhood of houses for $40 million, bulldozed the homes, and built a free parking lot for patrons. The club offered well over appraisal values for each home, making some people instant millionaires, but it hasn’t been able to get every home it wants.
The Thacker family simply refuses to sell their home, despite the club offering them millions.
The house itself is around 1,900 square feet, has three bedrooms, and sits on less than an acre of land. The estimated value of the home is $330,000, and despite Augusta National offering the family well over three times the value, they’re staying put for now.
“We really don’t want to go,” Elizabeth Thacker told NJ.com.
“Money ain’t everything,” her husband, Herman, added.
Interestingly enough, the Thackers owned the property across the street as well and sold it to the club for $1.2 million years ago.
An official from Augusta National does stop by the house every so often, but they continue to turn down any offers that come their way.
