After 9 days of tournament play spread out over two weeks time (there were multiple Days 1 and 2), the 2021 World Series of Poker Main Event has come to a conclusion. The winner was awarded $8,000,000 on Wednesday night and the iconic WSOP Main Event bracelet and the second-place finisher took home $4,300,000.

The 2021 World Series Of Poker Main Event started out with 6,650 players. There were so many players in the field that Day 1 was broken out into Day 1A, Day 1B, Day 1C, Day 1D, Day 1E, and Day 1F. And Day 2 of the tournament was combined into Day 2ABD and Day 2CEF. Day 3 of the tourney was the first time there was a unified field all playing at the same time.

Every player at the final table went home a millionaire. 9th place finisher Chase Bianchi won $1,000,000. And 5 of the 9 poker players at the table were from the United States so it was a pretty evenly split USA vs International table.

The final two players in the field were George Holmes (USA) who faced a massive chip stack from Koray Aldemir (Germany). The two battled back and forth, exchanging the chip lead at times, until this all-in right here for the $8,000,000 grand prize.

In addition to winning eight million dollars and the coveted WSOP bracelet, Koray Aldemir was also awarded 1,675.17 WSOP Player of the Year points for the 1st place finish in the WSOP Main Event. Josh Arieh currently sits in 1st place in the WSOP Player of the Year standings with 3,639.34 points to Dylan Linde’s 2,976.62. Koray Aldemir jumped into 3rd place on the leaderboard after his win and has 2,911.73 points.

Phil Hellmuth has 2,598.59 but is playing later today in the $10K Razz Championship trying to win another bracelet and that tournament awards 1,002.04 points for the bracelet winner.

I interviewed Phil Hellmuth last week just ahead of his start in the 2021 Main Event. You can read that interview right here where we talk about how Phil’s improved his game this year and how that helped him win his record 16th World Series of Poker bracelet.
