Caitlyn Jenner Says Dave Chappelle Is ‘100% Right’

Caitlyn Jenner, one of the most famous members of the trans community in the country, has taken to social media to side with Dave Chappelle in regards to the controversy surrounding his recent Netflix stand-up special The Closer.
“Dave Chappelle is 100% right,” Jenner tweeted. “This isn’t about the LGBTQ movement. It’s about woke cancel culture run amok, trying to silence free speech. We must never yield or bow to those who wish to stop us from speaking our minds.”
Chappelle, 48, has been facing backlash from the LGBTQ community following the release of The Closer, which hit Netflix on October 5. The special was filled with jokes and commentary about the LGBTQ community, including a bit where Chappelle suggested that rapper DaBaby got in more trouble for using a homophobic slur than he did for literally killing someone.
The release of The Closer has caused internal controversy at Netflix, as members of the LGBTQ community and their allies staged a walkout on October 20 in an effort to voice their displeasure with the streaming giant.
In the weeks since, Chappelle — who said that “If this is what it’s like being canceled, I love it” — has offered to meet with members of the LGBTQ community, albeit at a place and time of his choosing.
“To the transgender community, I am more than willing to give you an audience, but you will not summon me. I am not bending to anybody’s demands. And if you want to meet with me, I’d be more than willing to, but I have some conditions. First of all, you cannot come if you have not watched my special from beginning to end. You must come to a place of my choosing at a time of my choosing, and thirdly, you must admit that Hannah Gadsby is not funny,” Chappelle said in a video posted to Instagram.
