Gerald Green Retires, Joins Rockets As Coach
Gerald Green has retired and joined the Houston Rockets coaching staff. Green retired after a 15-year playing career that included 13 seasons in the NBA and two seasons overseas.
Green was drafted by the Boston Celtics directly out of high school at the 2005 NBA Draft. Green then went on to average 9.7 points in 658 career games. The Houston native played parts of three different seasons with his hometown Rockets.
As for his new role, Green said, "I'm excited about this. I've had a lot of crying nights leading up to this." Green said Rockets GM Rafael Stone has talked with him about joining the staff for a few years. The former prep-to-pros player will focus on player development with Houston's young team.
