Celtics To Waive Jabari Parker

The Boston Celtics are waiving forward Jabari Parker. Parker's contract was guaranteed for $100,000 and that amount will go on the Celtics cap sheet for the 2021-22 season.

Parker signed with the Celtics late in the 2020-21 season. In 10 regular season games with Boston, Parker averaged 6.4 points on 54.2% shooting. Parker then averaged 8.5 points on 61.9% shooting, as Boston fell to the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the playoffs.

The Celtics now have 14 players on standard contracts and one Two-Way player. That leaves Boston with an open standard roster spot and an open Two-Way spot.

There has been speculation that Boston was looking at adding another true big. Al Horford's early-season availability is in question, after he tested positive for COVID-19. Robert Williams missed the Celtics final preseason game due to knee soreness.
