Lil Wayne Says ‘F– the Grammys’ After 2021 Awards Show

Lil Wayne is making his disdain for the Recording Academy known once more just one day after the 63rd annual Grammy Awards.

He tweeted “F-k the Grammys” on Monday morning (March 15) in a similar explicit fashion to Zayn’s missive. But unlike the Nobody is Listening singer’s call for inclusion and transparency in the nominating process, Weezy has taken his most recent shutout personally.

In December, the 38-year-old rapper wondered aloud on Twitter why he wasn’t invited or nominated in this year’s ceremony. “As an artist, when I see da Grammys coming up & I’m not involved nor invited; I wonder. Is it me, my musik, or just another technicality?” he contemplated. “I look around w respect & wonder competitively am I not worthy?! Then I look around & see 5 Grammys looking bak at me & I go to the studio.”

Weezy took home four awards in one night at the 2009 Grammy Awards for best rap solo performance for “A Milli,” best rap song for “Lollipop,” best rap performance by a duo or group for his “Swagga Like Us” collab and best rap album for Tha Carter III. He later took home the Grammy Award for best rap performance for “No Problem” in 2017.

His 13th studio album Funeral, which topped the Billboard 200 chart in February 2020, was absent from the general or rap categories, but it received a Grammy nomination for best recording package. The award would have gone to art director Kyle Goen, not Weezy, had Funeral won, but it lost to The Desert Sessions’ Vols. 11 & 12.
