BTS, Harry Styles, Mickey Guyton & More Sales Surge After 2021 Grammy Awards

The 2021 Grammy Awards, which aired live on March 14 on CBS, spurred immediate sales gains for every song performed on the show, according to initial reports to MRC Data.
Collectively, the tunes performed on the show sold 40,000 copies on March 14 in the U.S. – up 330% compared to the 9,000 they sold on March 13. The sales figures include the original or hit versions of songs covered on the show, including Kenny Rogers’ “Lady” (which was performed in tribute to the late Rogers on the broadcast by its songwriter, Lionel Richie).
Further sales gains are likely on March 15. Any news on continued sales increases, as well as significant streaming gains for the performed songs will be reported in the coming days.

Beyoncé was the biggest winner of the evening, taking home four Grammy Awards. Her total trophy count now stands at 28, making her the female artist with the most wins ever (a point noted during the television broadcast). Her 28th win was for best R&B performance, an award presented during the television broadcast, for the song “Black Parade.” The track sold 200 copies on March 14 – up 743%.
Awards in 84 categories were presented on March 14, though the bulk of them were announced earlier in the day before the CBS television broadcast began. During the CBS show, 11 categories were presented.
Aside from the best R&B performance, the other on-air categories were: album of the year (Taylor Swift’s Folklore; 1,300 sold on March 14; up 3%), record of the year (Eilish’s “Everything I Wanted;” 1,300; up 812%), song of the year (“I Can’t Breathe,” performed by H.E.R.; 800; up 4,641%), best pop solo performance (Styles’ “Watermelon Sugar;” 2,600; up 945%), best pop vocal album (Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia; 700; up 111%), best melodic rap performance (Anderson .Paak’s “Lockdown;” 100; up 594%), best rap song (Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage,” featuring Beyoncé; 700; up 422%), best country album (Miranda Lambert’s Wildcard; 200; up 49%) and best Latin pop or urban album (Bad Bunny’s YHLQMDLG; less than 100; up 207%).
