On Sunday night (Feb. 7), Grammy Award-winning singer H.E.R. delivered an electric rendition of “America the Beautiful” ahead of Super Bowl LV in Tampa Bay.
Donning a bedazzled jacket, the California polymath sang the patriotic song with her guitar in tow alongside deaf D.C. rapper Warren “WAWA” Snipe.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, H.E.R. expressed her nervousness before her performance. “Honestly, I am so excited to just be performing at the Super Bowl. It’s a huge stage, and it doesn’t get any bigger, you know?” she said. “But I think the goal, for me, is to make [the song] my own. I’m a huge fan of the different versions of ‘America the Beautiful,’ but I really want to bring some different elements in there … make it H.E.R.”
Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan joined H.E.R. in the pregame line-up, as they performed the national anthem. The Weeknd will serve as tonight’s halftime performer. Check out H.E.R.’s performance below.
