NBA Has Best Opening Night Ratings Since 2017

TNT had its most-watched NBA opening night since 2017 with an average of 2.9 million viewers. The telecast was up one percent versus opening night in 2019 and up five percent from the restart in July.

The Brooklyn Nets blew out the Golden State Warriors in the opener while the Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in the second game. The Lakers and Clippers also played on opening night in 2019.

In 2017, the Boston Celtics played at the Cleveland Cavaliers in Kyrie Irving's first game against his former team. The Houston Rockets defeated the Warriors in the nightcap in what was Chris Paul's first game with Houston.
