Thunder Gave Paul George Option For Future Trade When He Signed Deal In 2018

Paul George and the Oklahoma City Thunder agreed to a four-year, $136.9 million contract during the 2018 offseason and then was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers approximately 365 days later.

It is believed George was given the optionality to leave the Thunder via trade should he decide to at a later date when he signed the deal.

"From what I understand, basically the Thunder told him, 'Paul, re-sign with us and if you feel like you want to move on, come to us and we will work together with you to accommodate you,' said Brian Windhorst. "Which is in fact what happened."

The Thunder traded George to the Clippers for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, five first round picks and two pick swaps.
