Joe Rogan Fires Back At Critics Who Tried To Get Him Canceled, Spotify Reportedly Defends Alex Jones Episode
Joe Rogan has retaliated against the cancel culture mob that attacked him for having InfoWars founder Alex Jones on his podcast this week. Online detractors attempted to get Rogan fired from his estimated $100 million deal with Spotify that was signed in May.
In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience that featured Jones and talented comedian Tim Dillon, the trio touched on a number of hot button topics. Jones, who frequently peddles conspiracy theories, provided his beliefs on the controversial subjects, including saying that a polio vaccine distributed by the United Nations caused an outbreak. Jones alleged that the vaccine caused 100% of the people to get sick.
Rogan fired back at his critics on Wednesday in an Instagram post.
“I knew people were going to criticize the content of the podcast without even listening and I was right,” Rogan wrote. “That’s why I fact checked every single crazy thing he said, and all of them were verified. People have said he spread ‘anti-covid vaccine conspiracy theories’ because he said that 80% of the people who were given one of the vaccines got sick. Here’s the video of Bill Gates admitting it himself.”
“Now, I’m NOT anti vaccine, and if a safe and effective covid vaccine is created I’ll take it and encourage others to take it, but I wanted to put this video up to validate what he said,” the comedian and UFC color commentator said. “He said a lot of crazy, but accurate things, and that’s what I’ve been saying about him for years. He’s most certainly f***ed up in the past, but this episode and the subjects he exposed highlight why I chose to have him on.”
Rogan included a video clip of Bill Gates being asked about a polio vaccine by CBS News. The CBS News report found that at least 80% of those given a second dose experienced a “systemic side effect,” including “severe chills to fevers.”
During the episode, Rogan referenced a news story about a polio vaccine distributed by the United Nations that caused an outbreak in Sudan. The Associated Press released an article in September detailing the outbreak, where two children reportedly became paralyzed.
“The World Health Organization says a new polio outbreak in Sudan is linked to an ongoing vaccine-sparked epidemic in Chad — a week after the U.N. health agency declared the African continent free of the wild polio virus,” the AP stated.
A BuzzFeed report was released on Wednesday that included an alleged internal email that was sent from a top executive at Spotify. The email, which was allegedly obtained by BuzzFeed, sounds as though the Spotify top brass was defending the appearance by Jones. Horacio Gutierrez, Spotify’s chief legal officer and head of global affairs, wrote an email to team managers on Thursday.
“If a team member has concerns about any piece of content on our platform, you should encourage them to report it to Trust & Safety because they are the experts on our team charged with reviewing content,” Gutierrez reportedly wrote in an email. “However, it’s important that they aren’t simply flagging a piece of content just because of something they’ve read online. It’s all too common that things are taken out of context.”
“We are not going to ban specific individuals from being guests on other people’s shows, as the episode/show complies with our content policies,” Gutierrez allegedly says, in what seems to be a reference to Jones appearing on Rogan’s massively successful podcast.
“Spotify has always been a place for creative expressions,” the email says, according to BuzzFeed. “It’s important to have diverse voices and points of view on our platform.”
“We are not going to ban specific individuals from being guests on other people’s shows, as the episode/show complies with our content policies,” the email allegedly states.
“In closing, we appreciate that not all of you will agree with every piece of content on our platform,” Gutierrez reportedly wrote. “However, we do expect you to help your teams understand our role as a platform and the care we take in making decisions.”
Despite Spotify management seemingly siding with Rogan in the emails, the episode with Jones was temporarily deleted from Spotify by Wednesday night, but then reinstated within approximately an hour.
Spotify also deleted a previous Alex Jones interview on The JRE that was done well before the deal with the streaming music giant. Fans of the podcast alleged that Spotify was censoring Rogan at the time.
When Rogan announced the deal with Spotify, he said his podcast “will remain FREE, and it will be the exact same show.” He added, “It’s just a licensing deal, so Spotify won’t have any creative control over the show.”
Last month, Spotify employees reportedly attempted to get Rogan fired, mostly for his interview with Abigail Shrier, author of the book Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters.
