Keyla Richardson’s launch single “So Good” becomes her first No. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart (dated Aug. 22), rising 3-1 with a 2% gain in plays in the week ending Aug. 16, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

Richardson, a finalist on BET’s gospel music talent show Sunday Best in 2019, is the first artist to top Gospel Airplay on a maiden try since Deborah Carolina was featured on James Fortune’s “I Am,” which started a 10-week reign in October 2019.

Before Richardson, Koryn Hawthorne last led with a rookie single unaccompanied by any other act when “Won’t He Do It” began its 19-week run in the penthouse in March 2018.

“So Good” is the lead single from Richardson’s first full-studio album, due later this year.

MANN POWER Tamela Mann’s new single “Touch From You” rockets onto the airplay-, streaming-, and sales-based Hot Gospel Songs chart at No. 4, equaling her highest entrance. “God Provides” arrived at No. 4 in October 2018, before reaching No. 2.

Mann adds her 10th Hot Gospel Songs top 10, propelling her into sixth place among all artists for the most top 10s on the chart, which began in 2003. She’s second among female artists behind Tasha Cobbs Leonard, with 11. Kirk Franklin has the most among all acts (15).

“Touch” arrives atop Gospel Digital Song Sales with 1,000 downloads sold in the week ending Aug. 13. It’s Mann’s seventh No. 1 and third to enter at the summit. The song also attracted 414,000 U.S. streams in the tracking week.

Released Aug. 7, the track was initially due this fall, but Mann decided to release it earlier to help her fans cope during the COVID-19 pandemic.

HOT ‘WATER’ We the Kingdom’s first studio LP Holy Water enters Top Christian Albums at No. 4, awarding the act its second top 10. In its first week, it earned 5,000 equivalent album units (2,000 in album sales).

The 12-song set, which was produced by the band, follows the EP Live at the Wheelhouse, which debuted at No. 36 in January before reaching No. 3 in April.

The new effort’s title-track first single topped Christian Airplay for four weeks starting in March and peaked at No. 2 on Hot Christian Songs.

Sophomore single “God So Loved” becomes the group’s third Christian Airplay top 10, as it pushes 11-10 (5.9 million audience impressions, up 5%). The act first hit the top 10 with “Christmas Day,” which jingled to  No. 10 last December.
