Kirk Franklin scores his milestone 50th week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel Songwriters chart (dated Aug. 8), thanks to his smash single “Love Theory.”

“Love Theory” stands at No. 3 on the Hot Gospel Songs chart, after spending 39 weeks at No. 1—the fourth-longest reign in the chart’s history, after Marvin Sapp’s “Never Would Have Made It” (46 weeks), Franklin’s “Wanna Be Happy?” (45) and Koryn Hawthorne’s “Won’t He Do It” (41).

Kanye West’s “Wash Us In The Blood,” featuring Travis Scott, and “Follow God” are ahead of “Love Theory” on Hot Gospel Songs, at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively.

Notably, Franklin is credited as the sole songwriter for “Love Theory,” helping boost his point totals on Gospel Songwriters, which launched in June 2019. Franklin has been No. 1 for 50 of the chart’s 61 total weeks.

Franklin also co-produced the song, alongside Shaun Martin, Max Stark and Ronald Hill.

Over on the latest Gospel Producers chart, J. Drew Sheard II logs his 11th week at No. 1, powered by two production credits on the latest Hot Gospel Songs chart performed by his sister, gospel singer Kierra Sheard. “It Keeps Happening” leads at No. 13 (after peaking at No. 12), followed by “Something Has To Break,” featuring Tasha Cobbs Leonard, at No. 15 (after peaking at No. 5). J. Drew Sheard is credited as the sole producer on both tracks,

The weekly Gospel Songwriters and Gospel Producers charts are based on total points accrued by a songwriter and producer, respectively, for each attributed song that appears on the Hot Gospel Songs chart; as with Billboard’s yearly recaps, multiple writers or producers split points for each song equally (and the dividing of points will lead to occasional ties on rankings).
