This year has been a disastrous year for anyone with hobbies that include gathering in public places with large groups of people.

That said, some are still finding ways to thrive at home this summer, even as we reach a stage of quarantine where boredom and fatigue have kicked in hard.

For example: People who own boats. Every weekend, my Instagram feed is filled with stories of friends hanging out on boats, fishing, day-drinking, and laughing it up in the sun while staying far away from other people.

Seems like the best summer ever to own a boat.

But what about those of us who don’t know any boaters, stuck to dry-land this treacherous, socially-distant summer?

We have to get crafty.

Hence, what’s better than finding a new hobby that combines consumption of White Claw with the hobby of ship building?

YouTuber Taylor Hancock put his empty White Claw cans and cases good use, engineering a floating raft for his dog.

Appropriately enough, he christening this White Claw ship as the “S.S. Clawdia”

He even dressed up his pug in a pirate costume for the perfect touch.

Here’s Hancock’s White Claw boat on her maiden voyage:

Genius.

On YouTube, Hancock further elaborates on his summer project:

We only have so much time on this earth, and we should spend that time doing things with real meaning. Some people choose to spend their time expanding their minds or giving back to society. I built a boat out of white claw cans. I have zero regrets let’s see if she floats.

Personally, I can’t think of a better way to spend a weekend. But this is coming from a guy who just spent his Saturday re-arranged his hot sauce collection with a Dewey Decimal system based on the kind of pepper used in the sauce.

Here’s the full video on how Hancock made his White Claw ship.

Now let’s see him make one that’s fully sea-worthy and ready for a person in that pool.

I’m already downing my way through a case of Mangos to help the cause.
