MGM Pitches NBA, WNBA On Plan To Quarantine Block In Las Vegas To Finish Out Season

#DmtDaily

MGM Resorts International, the company which owns stakes in several Las Vegas hotels, has pitched the NBA and WNBA on a plan to quarantine off a block in Vegas so both leagues could finish their season.

MGM envisions a quarantined campus where players, their families, team staff, and league employees could live, according to Kevin Draper of the New York Times.

The campus centers around the Mandalay Bay resort, which features 4700 rooms connected through the Mandalay Bay, the Four Seasons, and the Delano.

As many as 24 basketball courts could be built at the convention center at the Mandalay Bay. Five courts would be used to televise games, with teams able to practice on the rest.

The WNBA's Aces currently play at Mandalay Bay.

Safety and health procedures would be extensive, with the proposal stating that "any person entering the integrated resort would have to go through agreed health, safety and quarantine protocols."

The plan also states that members would have to remain within the resort boundaries for their entire stay.
