Oprah Winfrey to Discuss Coronavirus’ ‘Deadly Impact on Black America’ for New Special

Oprah Winfrey will host a special presentation on her latest Apple TV+ series Oprah Talks COVID-19 - The Deadly Impact on Black America, premiering Tuesday.
The media mogul will remotely speak with African-American professionals across the journalism, political and medical fields, including Van Jones, CNN host and CEO of REFORM Alliance; Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot; Dr. Aletha Maybank, chief health equity officer at the American Medical Association; and Nikole Hannah-Jones, The New York Times staff writer and founder of 1619 Project. Additionally, Jennifer Hudson is slated to perform.
Winfrey will also hold in-depth conversations with families and frontline workers disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, as they offer heartbreaking anecdotes and vital information on how to support those in need.
“This coronavirus is shaking up the world, taking a devastating toll on the African American community. I hope you’ll join me to understand why COVID-19 is having such a deadly impact on Black America as I speak to leaders in our community and to family members who are having to bury their dead alone,” she said via Instagram on Monday (April 13).
Oprah Talks COVID-19 – The Deadly Impact on Black America will air at 11 p.m. ET for free on AppleTV+ (regardless of subscription) and on OWN.
