Monsta X’s Joohoney Makes His Solo Debut on World Digital Song Sales Chart

Monsta X fans have once again taken to the charts to support the members.

After member Joohoney announced a hiatus from the K-pop group to focus on his mental health in January, the 25-year-old has slowly begun returning to public life these past weeks. To show a warm welcome in supporting the rapper-singer, Monsta X fans began revisiting the song “Red Carpet” that was featured on his solo DWTW mixtape that previously entered the Top 10 of Billboard’s World Albums chart back in 2018.

Thanks to the fan support, Joohoney (formerly professionally known as Jooheon) now makes his solo debut on the World Digital Song Sales chart as DWTW track “Red Carpet” enters at No. 16 for the chart dated April 11, 2020. The slick hip-hop cut that showcases Joohoney’s magnetic rap and singing style has now sold 1,000 copies total in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

In addition to being the only Monsta X member to bow on World Albums, Joohoney is currently the only member to enter World Digital Song Sales as well. While some of the MX men have released solo mixtape material or contributed singles to soundtracks, none have entered the charts yet.

Earlier this year, Monsta X scored their first No. 1 on World Digital Song Sales with “From Zero.” The track was meant to show support of former member Wonho — who produced and wrote on the song — after he was cleared of legal charges stemming from a spat of online rumors from 2019.

Now that Joohoney is back in action, the star has a busy few months with loads of new music. On April 14, the new boy band Cravity will release their debut album that features a song co-written and co-produced by Joohoney (you can preview the track “Jumper” now) while Monsta X will return to the scene with a new EP titled Fantasia X on May 11 (announced just today).
