Billie Eilish and more postpone shows due to coronavirus
Dates on Billie Eilish’s “WHERE DO WE GO?” tour – which only began earlier this week (March 9) – are included in a new wave of cancellations and postponements due to the risk of spreading coronavirus.
The music industry has taken a particularly large hit today, with the entertainment company Live Nation planning to suspend all tours until at least the end of the month. The move comes “in the best interest of artists, fans, staff, and the global community,” according to a statement.
Besides Eilish, those affected include Post Malone, Thundercat, and Cher. Recently, Coachella has also been officially postponed from April to October, while SXSW 2020 has been shut down completely.
On Monday, Billie Eilish kicked off her tour in Miami, making a strong impression with an interlude in which she shared a message about body shaming and the male gaze.
“i’m so sad to do this but we need to postpone these dates to keep everyone safe,” she says of the new cancellation, announced March 12. “we’ll let you know when they can be rescheduled. please keep yourselves healthy. i love you.”
