Super Junior Return With '2YA2AO': Watch the Dramatic Video
#Music
After going retro on last year’s “Super Clap” and their Time_Slip album, Super Junior returned with something a bit more modern in the form of “2YA2AO” on the reissued edition of the album, Timeless, both out on Tuesday (Jan. 28).
The Zico-penned “2YA2AO” is boisterous in its hip-hop styling, which is a divergent sound for Super Junior, who have typically veered towards R&B and Latin pop for inspiration on singles.
With a focus on each of the nine members’ distinct vocal tones throughout “2YA2YAO,” the melody switches tempo and style to fit each performance with some funk any dynth-pop elements sprinkled throughout. The team comes together for the revelatory chorus, which sees Super Junior's singing about their showmanship and how they’re young -- the latter of which may be a nod to how the 30-something-year-old members of the act are still relatively young and full of potential, regardless of stereotypes regarding boy bands.
Timeless features a total of 14 songs, including the original 10 featured on Time_Slip plus the new single and three other songs: the rambunctious “Ticky Tocky,” the mellifluous “Shadow,” and the exuberant “Rock Your Body.”
“2YA2YAO” was released through a dark, dramatic video that sees the act confidently taking on the camera. Watch it below.
