This is the eleventh consecutive weekend of unrest in Hong Kong since the extradition bill crisis began in June. Protesters began gathering at the starting point, Victoria Park, in the early afternoon. Police had only given permission for a rally, denying applications for a march. However, as the crowd kept growing, protesters flooded the streets nearby. They reached Central after 4pm and took over part of Gloucester Road. By 5pm, while many people were leaving the starting point, many more were still trying to make their way into Victoria Park. As night fell, thousands of people continued to march down Hong Kong’s streets. Organisers say 1.7 million people participated in the rally.
