Each superstar act has reigned for 163 weeks.

Global sensation BTS matches Justin Bieber's record for the most weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Social 50 chart as the K-pop septet logs a 163rd week at the summit, on the chart dated Feb. 1.

The Social 50 is powered by data tracked by music analytics company Next Big Sound and ranks the most popular artists on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Wikipedia. The chart's methodology blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers with artist page views and engagement. The chart's latest tracking week ended Jan. 23.

BTS first topped the Social 50 dated Oct. 29, 2016. Since, only Ariana Grande and Bieber have managed to pause that runaway train, for six and three weeks, respectively. The domination also powered BTS to three consecutive Billboard Music Awards for top social artist in 2017-19.

BTS' well-documented social power derives from its dedicated fanbase, nicknamed ARMY, which has only swelled as the South Korean superstars' reach has expanded into other territories, including the U.S. BTS has also collaborated with a roster of high-profile acts in recent years, including Nicki Minaj, Halsey and Juice WRLD.

The group's Social 50 milestone arrives alongside its newest Billboard Hot 100 hit, "Black Swan," which starts at No. 57, marking BTS' eighth career entry on the ranking. The track concurrently opens at No. 2 on the Digital Song Sales chart, with 24,000 downloads sold in the week ending Jan. 23, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, and at No. 1 on World Digital Song Sales, securing BTS its record-extending 18th leader on the survey.

As for Bieber, he first ruled the Social 50 dated Jan. 22, 2011, just after the chart's December 2010 inception. Amid buzz for Changes, his first album since 2015, due on Valentine's Day, he currently ranks at No. 6 and logs a fourth consecutive week in the top 10, his best such streak since fall 2017. He most recently led the Social 50 that July.
