Celine Dion Tops Artist 100 Chart for First Time, Thanks to 'Courage' Debut

Her new album is her first Billboard 200 leader since 2002.

Celine Dion re-enters the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated Nov. 30) at No. 1 to become the top musical act in the U.S. for the first time, as her new LP Courage launches at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with 113,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music.

The Artist 100 began in 2014 and measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.

Courage is Dion's fifth Billboard 200 No. 1 and first since A New Day Has Come in 2002, as she ends the longest gap between leaders for a female artist in the chart's history.

The pop superstar also becomes the seventh act to re-enter the Artist 100 at No. 1 this year, all driven by album arrivals, after Backstreet Boys, Tyler, The Creator, Madonna, Slipknot, SuperM and Kanye West.

(Dion had previously spent two weeks on the Artist 100, reaching No. 87 during the 2017-18 holiday season.)

Meanwhile, Courage's lead radio single, "Imperfections," holds at No. 14 on the Adult Contemporary airplay survey, where it's Dion's highest-charting hit this decade.

Rounding out the Artist 100's top five, Post Malone is steady at No. 2, as "Circles" becomes his fourth No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100, Billie Eilish keeps at No. 3, Taylor Swift rises 5-4 and Luke Combs dips to No. 5 after logging his first week at No. 1.
