Post Malone Scores Second Straight U.K. No. 1 Album With 'Hollywood's Bleeding'

9/13/2019 by Paul Sexton

Post Malone achieves his second consecutive U.K. No. 1 album with Hollywood's Bleeding (Republic/Universal), and there's a third week atop the singles chart for Ed Sheeran's “Take Me Back to London” (Asylum/Warner Music), featuring Stormzy.

Hollywood's Bleeding scores more than double the combined units of Sheeran's No. 6 Collaborations Project, which stays at No. 2. The Official Charts Company reports that 87% of Post Malone's tally came from streaming. His Beerbongs and Bentleys went straight to No. 1 in the U.K. in May 2018.

There's a new entry at No. 3 for 19-year-old Manchester native Aitch's AitcH2O EP (Since 93) as his “Taste (Make It Shake)” climbs again 3-2 on the singles countdown. Taylor Swift's Lover (EMI/Universal) is down 3-4 as Lewis Capaldi's Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, also on EMI, holds at No. 5.

Status Quo arrive at No. 6 to score their 25th top 10 album, in a span of more than 46 years, with Backbone (Ear Music). Their last album of original studio material to go higher was 1982, which reached No. 1 in the year of its title.

The new album chart also shows U.S. singer-songwriter Melanie Martinez debuting at No. 8 with K-12 (Atlantic/Warner), while Jax Jones' Snacks is up 19-9 after the release of its Supersize full-length edition. It's the record's first top ten appearance in its 23rd week in the top 75. On the compilation chart, Now That's What I Call Music 103 (Sony Music CG/Virgin EMI/Universal) starts an eighth straight week at No. 1.

“Take Me Back To London” scores 8.45 million streams to finish 13,000 combined units ahead of the Aitch single. Kygo's “Higher Love” (Kygo/Columbia/Sony), featuring Whitney Houston, is down 2-3 while AJ Tracey's “Ladbroke Grove” (AJ Tracey) holds at No. 4. Post Malone's “Circles” climbs 11-5 and his “Goodbyes,” featuring Young Thug, climbs back 14-10. “Strike A Pose” (Black Butter) by Young T & Bugsey featuring Aitch is up 10-9.
