Bohemia Group Launches Music Media Division

#DMT.NEWS

Bohemia Group has launched a music media division to represent composers, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. The management/production company, which was founded in 1992 and has offices in Los Angeles, New York, Berlin, London and Auckland, New Zealand, has hired Peter Hackman, a co-producer at soundtrack label Varese Sarabande Records, to lead the new unit.

Hackman is bringing with him composer clients including Golden Globe- and Emmy-nominated Christopher Young (The Shipping News, Norma Jean and Marilyn, Pet Sematary, Spider-Man 3), Globe- and Grammy-nominated Vince DiCola (Stayin' Alive, Rocky IV), Holly Amber Church (The Mirror Witch), Randy Miller (The Marvel Experience, The Soong Sisters) and Jeremy Nathan Tisser (Raw Data VR game Battlewake).

"I'm excited to take on this new role and fill a need in the marketplace for composers who have distinguished themselves through their exceptional work and have proven themselves to be great collaborators," Hackman said Monday in a statement. "My life centers around music, soundtracks and composers, and taking on this role was a natural fit. In an industry that tends to want to put artists in a certain box, we want to help them break out of that box and find more opportunities. I'm thrilled to be a part of a company that places a high value on music and the importance that composers and music have in media."

Hackman will continue to co-own the label NotefornoteMusic, whose library of soundtracks includes Hans Zimmer's Rain Man, Bill Conti's Masters of the Universe and Edwin Wendler's Dead Ant. In 2010, he founded the Fans of Film Music Society, an international convention that unites film composers, including Ludwig Goranson, Brian Tyler, Pinar Toprak, Tom Holkenborg, Benjamin Wallfisch, John Ottman and Tyler Bates, with industry professionals as well as fans. The Society is currently planning its next event in Los Angeles.

"Music has always been a part of Bohemia Group, so deciding to work with composers made sense, but I knew it would be essential to find the right person to head this area of the company," said Bohemia Group CEO Susan Ferris. "It is a specialized field, and I wanted someone who not only understood it but also understood Bohemia. When I met Peter, it was truly a no-brainer. He got the rhythm of our company and understood composers, soundtracks and music so well that I could not bring him on fast enough."
