8/13/2019 by Lars Brandle

Slipknot are on the verge of tying up their first U.K. albums chart title in 13 years.

The U.S. metal veterans have taken charge of the midweek albums survey with We Are Not Your Kind (Roadrunner), which leads Ed Sheeran’s second-placed No.6 Collaborations Project (Asylum) by more than 13,000 chart sales, according to the Official Charts Company.

We Are Not Your Kind should become Slipknot’s fifth consecutive top 5 album, and their first since 5 - The Gray Chapter hit No. 2 back in 2014.

According to the OCC, Slipknot have shifted the most physical copies and digital downloads across the weekend, while Sheeran leads on streaming with No.6 Collaborations Project, which has reigned over the chart for the past four weeks.

Meanwhile, Welsh rock outfit Feeder are charging toward a ninth top 10 album with Tallulah (Believe), which sits at No. 3 on the Official Chart Update, while Bon Iver’s new set I,I. (Jagjaguwar), which got a surprise early release last week on digital platforms, comes in at No 5 at the midweek mark.

New album releases by Rick Ross, Trippie Redd and Marika Hackman impact the top 20 at the halfway stage.

On the singles tally, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s “Senorita” (EMI/Syco Music) is sailing to a fifth week at No. 1, based on early sales and streaming reports, while Kygo and Whitney Houston’s “Higher Love” (Columbia/Kygo) could enter the top 5 for the first time. The Steve Winwood cover is up 9-3 and could would be the Norwegian producer’s highest charting single to-date, besting the No. 7 peak for "It Ain't Me," his 2017 collaboration with Selena Gomez.
