'BTS World' Makes Top 10 Debut on Top Soundtracks Chart

7/12/2019 by Jeff Benjamin

The BTS brand expands to even more new chart territory with a soundtrack featuring artists from all over the world.

After appearances across various world, pop, hip-hop, electronic/dance, R&B, rock, and rhythmic charts, BTS now expand their reach into yet another Billboard chart world.

The BTS World soundtrack debuts at No. 6 on Billboard's Top Soundtracks chart. The set that features the band as well as guests like Juice WRLD and Charli XCX opens with 10,000 equivalent album units, of which 3,000 copies were traditional album units, in the week ending July 5, according to Nielsen Music. The Top Soundtracks chart ranks the week's top-selling soundtracks in America, ranked by sales data as compiled by Nielsen Music, with BTS World marking the first K-pop soundtrack to enter the Top Soundtracks chart.

The soundtrack's success also sees BTS World debut at No. 72 on the all-genre Billboard 200 and No. 3 on World Albums chart

Created in partnership for the band's recently releasd mobile game BTS World, the original soundtrack album delivers 14 songs that feature both BTS in full (on "Heartbeat," which is also No. 1 on the World Digital Song Sales chart this week), and splintered into units (on the tracks "Dream Glow" with Charli XCX, "A Brand New Day" with Zara Larsson, and the Juice WRLD-featuring "All Night," all of which also topped World Digital Song Sales upon their release). The soundtrack also includes instrumental tracks and contributions from veteran artist and BTS' Korean label mate Lee Hyun (on the uplifting power-rock cut "You Are Here") and indie duo Okdal (on the soothing folk track "LaLaLa"). While the album's artist is officially attributed to "Various Artists," the move further shows BTS' growing reach and solidifies their place as a true chart presence in America.
