When Ty Dolla Sign announced his new single ‘Purple Emoji’ last week, of course the fans were excited.

Although the two hinted at a collaboration a few months ago, it’s still an interesting combination on paper so how does it really sound? Ty has finally premiered the new song today via Zane Lowe’s show on Beats 1 and it surely doesn’t disappoint. Listen to the heavily sampled, MXXWLL-produced love song below.

“I was at this studio called Jungle City in New York working on Yandhi with Kanye. I just took over the top room I had a whole whole separate room he had the bottom floors. And then just turns out Cole was in the room right next to me,” Ty told Zane. “When I saw him I was like bro I got something to play you and he’s like I got something to play to you so I went to his studio and heard everything he was working on and then I’m like yo I just did this one I thought would be crazy for both of us, so he came in my room I played it for him immediately and he did his verse in five minutes. Shout out to Cole for just being in the room with me like that. It’s not often you can meet an artist that prolific, that big in the game that will just like ‘alright let’s do it right now what’s up where the mic at?’”

Ty also talked about working with Kanye on his long awaited Yandhi album. “I was already working with Ye so I’m not gonna stop that. His album is amazing. He’s more psycho than me when it comes to music so he’s constantly upgrading upgrading upgrading we think the song is done we think it’s fire and he’s like no let’s keep going,” Ty said about the working process. “It’s a great learning experience. You know the Sunday Service he called me at the beginning of the year and told me he was about to start that. At first when I heard it I was like really? That would be crazy. But he actually did it and then we performed at Coachella. I’m very proud of my bro, and you already know his next project is about to be stupid.”

The multi talented musician is currently putting final touches on his yet untitled new album, the follow up to 2017’s Beach House 3. It is expected to release in the coming months.
