Following the Sonic The Hedgehog movie's director Jeff Fowler's decision to fix Sonic's design after fan outcry, he has now announced that the film will be pushed back to February 14, 2020 to make the iconic character "just right."

Announced on Twitter, Fowler said that the team needs a bit more time and, in response to people's fear that this design shift would impact those VFX artists that would have to crunch to make the original date of November 8, 2019, possible, he reassured that "#novfxartistswereharmedinthemakingofthismovie."

While Fowler said nothing more of the planned changes, the image included may give some hints that they are going to redesign Sonic with the original look very much in mind.

In the original design of this new Sonic for the movie, he had white hands, as opposed to white gloves that adorn his character in the games. This new image features Sonic holding up a sign that announces the new date, and shows that he now is indeed wearing gloves, perhaps giving us a glimpse of their new vision.

The decision to change the character happened earlier this month with the reveal of the first trailer, and many took issue with, among other things, Sonic's teeth. It even inspired us to take a look at what other video game characters would look like with those particular teeth.

While we may have to wait a bit longer to see Sonic in action, at least we now know that it will be a little easier on the team who have to make these changes a reality.
