Meet the Woman Who Is Innovating Women’s Orgasms

Ose Inventor Lora Haddock Explains the Robotic Sex Toy

There’s no shortage of sex toys on the market claiming to spark, enhance, or extend an orgasm. However, very few are backed by a high-tech engineering and robotics team. Not at all like your standard vibrator, Lora Dicarlo’s Ose claims to be an innovative sex toy that’ll change the orgasm game for both men and women.

When the Ose won a 2019 CES Innovation Award, it would have seemed it was the attention needed to change orgasms forever. However, weeks before CES, trade show organizers changed their minds and rescinded the award, which might have been a better outcome for Lora Dicarlo than the actual props. As CEO Lora Haddock told Dan Costa, editor-at-large of AskMen and PC Mag, “What's funny is them taking it away … ended up highlighting how cool the tech is and the debacle. We ended up on quite a few top 10 lists just for the tech alone.”

So what exactly is this award-winning and sophisticated sex toy? While you might think sex toys with robotics and engineering technology would just result in a fancier or more sparkly vibrator, you’d be wrong about Ose. In fact, this sex toy doesn’t vibrate at all.

“I had an orgasm when I was 28 years old that was a blended orgasm. That's when you stimulate both the clitoris, the glans clitoris. Most people don't understand that the G spot is actually a part of the clitoris,” Haddock told Costa. “The clitoris is actually about that big, and it spans all underneath the external anatomy where the external labia is and then goes all the way to the inside of the vaginal canal.”

What this means is a sex toy that stimulates both the inside and the outside, without vibration, that can fit anyone’s body. Ose is also customizable to fit different physiologies and is hands-free. Although there is no vibration involved, it stimulates human mouth and finger motions, resulting in a “come hither” motion, as Haddock describes it.

If it sounds super high-tech, it’s because it is. Haddock’s team consists of a serious robotics team, student engineers, PhDs, and AI and micro-robotics specialists.

While this sounds great for women, Ose might not seem as exciting to men. However, according to Haddock, there are plans for men’s toys as well. “Our values are firmly rooted in respect, empowerment, and integrity. For us, that really creates a culture of inclusivity. We are creating products and engineering products that span the gamut all the way from female all across the fluidity to male. So everything from male to female and everything in between. Let's face it, some women have penises and some men have vaginas. We wanna be able to create a product for everyone.”

According to Haddock, the device should be available this fall, and may be going up for presale as early as July or August.
