“Leaving Neverland” Director Makes U-Turn On Michael Jackson’s Accuser’s Claim Since the release of Leaving Neverland, many have switched sides on Michael Jackson but there’s been an equal amount of people who’ve cast doubt on the allegations made by James Safechuck and Wade Robson. Dan Reed, the director of the docuseries, has now admitted that there may have been a few holes in the allegations made by James Safechuck. Michael Jackson’s biographer Mike Smallcombe shared some evidence that proves James Safechuck’s timeline about when Jackson abused him was off. Safechuck claimed the pop icon abused him in an upstairs room at Neverland’s train station but Smallcombe shut down those claims, revealing the station was built two years after Safechuck said the abuse stopped. Smallcombe backed his claims with photos of the construction permits. The permits reveal that the train station was opened in 1994 but received permits in 1993. Safechuck claimed that he was abused from 1988 until 1992. Dan Reed responded to Smallcombe’s post, saying, “Yeah, there seems to be no doubt about the station date. The date they have wrong is the end of the abuse.” Smallcombe told The Mirror that Reed’s comments were “embarrassing.” “Because the story has been debunked, it appears Reed is now suddenly wanting to change Safechuck’s timeline himself,” he said. “Firstly, I’m shocked that he’s spoken on Safechuck’s behalf. And secondly, it’s embarrassing that he feels he has to now change the narrative of the film – which is that the alleged abuse stopped in 1992 – all because part of it has been disproved.” “That’s what happens when you take allegations like that at face value, and make no attempts to scrutinize and investigate whether they are true,” he added. Joe Biden Didn’t Know Any Better, Which is Exactly the Problem Everyone except Joe Biden knew this was coming. Well before Diamond Joe hinted that he would run for president in 2020, there was already plenty of documented evidence that the former Democratic VP treated events like he was hosting an episode of Family Feud in 1980: rubbing women on their shoulders and whispering to them and smelling their hair and planting surprise kisses on them and doing all kinds of other creepy old man shit. Now two women, former Nevada state assemblywoman Lucy Flores and former congressional aide Amy Lappos, have publicly called Biden out for his behavior. Here was Flores in The Cut on Friday : I felt him get closer to me from behind. He leaned further in and inhaled my hair… He proceeded to plant a big slow kiss on the back of my head. My brain couldn’t process what was happening. I was embarrassed. I was shocked. I was confused. And here was Lappos yesterday, per the Hartford Courant: He put his hand around my neck and pulled me in to rub noses with me. These accusations come just a few days after Biden told a crowd at an award ceremony, one which was co-sponsored by It’s On Us, that “I wish I could have done something” about his role in the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings. He expressed this regret even though he was Senate Judiciary Chair for those hearings and could have done a great many things, such as call witnesses to back up Anita Hill’s harassment claims against Thomas. Instead, the process was a shitshow and Thomas got confirmed anyway, after which he spent 27 years (and counting) retrofitting the Constitution to accommodate the needs of corporations, wingnut culture warriors, corrupt politicians, and voter-suppression enthusiasts. Given that Democrats just watched another accused sexual harasser, Brett Kavanaugh, skate to confirmation by loudly expressing his fondness for Duff Beer, you can understand why they’d give Biden shit for getting handsy on camera every seven seconds. Despite benefiting from spending eight years in the shadow of Barack Obama, Joe Biden has an extensive history of pretending he hasn’t done bad things. And that’s what he’s doing this time around, declaring, “In my many years on the campaign trail and in public life, I have offered countless handshakes, hugs, expressions of affection, support and comfort. And not once—never—did I believe I acted inappropriately.” Biden believes his intent clears him, and he’s got support from certain centrist orcs like Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia and, naturally, Dianne Feinstein of California, who seems more intent on criticizing her own party than the one she’s supposed to be legislating against: Biden is “a warm, tactile person. He reaches out and he touches and it’s like this and that. It’s hardly sexy,” said Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), gently touching an aide. “It’s a new thing that people have been affronted by it. Over 25 years I’ve never seen that before.” PC culture run amok, AMIRITE? People just wanna be outraged by everything now, you guys! Feinstein, like Biden, wants to excuse all this as Joe Being Joe, and that this is normal. Not news. He was just being tactile! THAT’S THE FUCKING PROBLEM. Just because you’ve been a handsy prick for years doesn’t mean you’re entitled to be one. Lappos herself agreed that the way in which Biden touched her “wasn’t sexual,” but it still bothered her all the same. Flores said, “my point was never about his intentions.” That Biden may not have had bad intentions when he did a bad thing makes it all the more thoughtless and damnable. Too many guys assume this is normal roguish guy behavior, and that they can "So?” away anyone who tells them otherwise. Or worse, they get defensive, like this is a way of life that needs to be fiercely protected. You couldn’t possibly think I was being a shitbag! Too many guys vastly overestimate their own charms, and Biden is one of them. The #MeToo movement didn’t come into being just to point out aggressively malignant dudes with bad intentions, but to also call out assholes who DON’T think they’re doing anything wrong when they make other people feel uncomfortable, assholes who want you to fall in line with their opinions as to what’s appropriate and what isn’t. Too much bad shit had been too normal for too long, and Joe Biden stands as one of the most high-profile exemplars of the problem. Whale Is Found Dead in Italy With 48 Pounds of Plastic in Its Stomach More than 48 pounds of plastic, including disposable dishes, a corrugated tube, shopping bags and a detergent package with its bar code still visible, were found inside a dead sperm whale in Italy, the World Wildlife Fund said on Monday. The whale, a young female, washed ashore in Porto Cervo, a seaside resort in the north of the Italian island of Sardinia. It was also carrying a fetus “in an advanced state of decomposition,” the fund said. This was the latest in a grim international collection of whale carcasses burdened by dozens of pounds of plastic trash. Last month, a whale was found dead on a Philippine beach with 88 pounds of plastic in its body. More than 1,000 assorted pieces of plastic were discovered inside a decomposing whale in Indonesia in November. A sperm whale died in Spain last year after being unable to digest more than 60 pounds of plastic trash. “Plastic is one of the worst enemies of marine species,” the World Wildlife Fund said on Monday. The whale in Porto Cervo was found on Thursday, according to a Facebook post by SeaMe Sardinia, a nonprofit organization that studies marine mammals. The cause of death is still being investigated, but the quantity of plastic found is unusual for a whale of its size, about 26 feet, the World Wildlife Fund said. North Carolina G.O.P. Chairman Indicted in Corruption Probe The chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party has been charged in connection with an effort to bribe the state’s insurance commissioner through campaign donations, according to a federal indictment that was unsealed on Tuesday. The party chairman, Robin Hayes, was charged with five counts, including bribery and conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud. The indictment accuses Mr. Hayes, a former congressman, of helping to route $250,000 in bribes to the re-election campaign of Mike Causey, the insurance commissioner. Mr. Causey, who reported his concern to authorities, was not charged in the indictment, which a grand jury returned last month, and did not immediately comment. Mr. Hayes, the most prominent of the four people who were charged, did not respond to a message. The charges against Mr. Hayes represent only the latest chapter of tumult in North Carolina Republican politics. In February, the state board of elections ordered a new vote in the Ninth Congressional District after it concluded that a voter-turnout operation, financed by the Republican candidate’s campaign, had tainted last November’s election.
